It’s always so special when the place you are getting married is meaningful, even more so when it’s the house you grew up in all your life. In Sammie’s house, I saw photos hanging on the walls, telling stories about her interest in gymnastics when she was a child. Naturally, I caught her facing her younger self in this portrait and I absolutely love the snippet of her past.
Josh and his groomsmen shared a very intimate prayer that really reflected how meaningful the wedding was to them all. The sun shone just in the right spot as their ceremony took place. After the ceremony, the couple walked around the trail they frequent and where Josh proposed. It was a day full of meaningful moments and I’m so glad to have documented their backyard wedding in Toronto!
Tip for planning your own backyard wedding!
1. Set the ceremony spot in an open shade or against the sunlight if possible
2. Holding the ceremony 2 hours before sunset allows for some warm golden light (if it’s not cloudy!)
3. Go with the flow and don’t expect everything to go perfectly. This is a more casual wedding, so focus on being present and enjoying your special day! Remember to make memories, not just events!
