Webster’s Falls Hamilton Engagement: When Leanne & Derek asked if we could do a sunrise engagement session I jumped on that opportunity with a full YES. Originally we planned on doing the photoshoot at Dundas Peak, which meant I had to wake up at 3:30am to get ready, drive, and do a bit of hiking for a 6:03am sunrise photoshoot.
Everything was going as planned, everyone was up between 3-3:30am. We met at the bottom of Dundas Peak parking lot at 5:30am to find that it was closed. So we thought perhaps someone will open the gate soon. We waited, drove around looking for potential parking spots, nothing. However, worried that we might get our cars towed or ticketed, we decided to park our cars else where and take an Uber to this site. Once we got to a random Tim Hortons, we found this patch of field with sun rising behind it, we quickly ran across the street for some engagement photos. Five minutes later the sun was gone and it reamained cloudy all day long. Talk about right timing! Even though we didn’t get to go to the Dundas Peak, we discovered Webster’s Falls Park, and found pretty neat spots! All things considering, although it didn’t go as planned, we still came across something pretty amazing! For this reason, if you plan to go to Webster’s Falls, check the shuttle bus times here.
I personally love taking photos closer to sunset or sunrise, or a cloudy day. [Edited to add: high noon or direct sunlight photos can look pretty cool too! If you like to take some creative high contrast photos, I’d love to play around with the sun!] So consider the time of the day when you are planning your own photoshoot, if you can help it. As well, if you plan on doing a sunrise session at Dundas Peak or Webster’s Falls, get an Uber to drop you off, trust me.
